Avoriaz Night Skiing Guide

All You Need To Know About Night Skiing Avoriaz

If you love the thrill of skiing under the stars, Avoriaz doesn’t fall short.

The resort of Les Portes Soleil which covers Avoriaz, Morzine, Lets Gets, Châtel, Morgins and Champéry, offers several night skiing stations, with floodlit slopes, sledging opportunities, lifts and cable cars for access, and of course breathtaking scenery by night.

So if you can’t get enough of skiing during the day, then head to the slopes for a night of floodlit mayhem.

Night Skiing Avoriaz

The closest night skiing to Avoriaz is at Morzine, which opens up the Pleney Stade every Thursday from 8pm until 10pm (23/12 to 30/04) for night skiing.

Although the run is free, you’ll need to bring along your ski pass, and participants must be aged 12 or over. Or from 8 years onwards for night sledging - accompanied by an adult.

The floodlit views at night are worth the experience alone. Race down the Pleney piste and then back up in the cable car for another go, and again...
From 10pm (daily), you can hurtle down the Pleney slopes on a sledge. The only light is from your head torch. A crazy 4 km descent, but so much fun. Heading further away from Avoriaz you have access to the night skiing resorts of Châtel (Linga Stadium), Morgins and Champéry. The later are a few lifts away, across the border into Switzerland, but definitely worth the trip. Many of our guests head out for a night ski and to enjoy a dinner in one of the resorts.

*Night skiing depends on the weather conditions. It’s always best to check in advance of heading off to another resort for the evening.

Avoriaz itself offers night sledging. The most fun you can have at dusk on the slopes! Heading out from the Avoriaz station, the ski school Evolution 2 will guide you down a 1000 metre slope with their qualified instructors.

The slope is closed off and fully secured for the experience, and as long as you have a valid ski pass and your own helmet, anyone can join in the fun. They have a new sledge called a Yooner which can also be used for daytime sledging. It’s just like snow karting and is so much fun. The cost is 29 € / per adult and 18 € for children aged between 8-11.
