Snowboxx 2019 Avoriaz
23rd – 30th March 2019 Avoriaz, France
Europe loves a festival.
Any opportunity to come together with like-minded people, listen to our favourite genre of music, belly laugh our way through comedy nights, and drink ourselves happy. In recent years, ski festivals have come into their own, where apres-ski crosses over into something so much more. The Snowboxx festival is a serious party on the slopes of Avoriaz, celebrating its seventh year in 2019. Taking place from 23rd to 30th March 2019, this is where the hottest electronic dance acts come together and seriously heat up the French alpine slopes of this award-winning Portes du Soleil resort. Snowboxx is definitely up there with the best ski festivals. MTV called it, a week-long fun machine. The electronic and snowsports festival brings together the best acts in house, techno, drum and bass, garage, and grime, play Snowboxx, and attracts a 5,000 strong crowd over the 7 fun-fuelled days and late nights of March.
This is one truly epic week in the mountains that you won’t forget. And it’s not for lightweights. You are definitely not allowed to bail out early, or get up late, because there are parties and activities from breakfast through to the wee hours. The aim is to just keep going. Brunch Party-Ski-Party-Ski Activities-Party-Sleep a few hours - Do it all again the next day. You’ll get the hang of it! The organisers of Avoriaz set up a Festival Village on the edge of town, with custom-built snow bars, a concert arena, retail and festival food stalls, and a host of crazy activity attractions. The village itself doesn’t shy away either, with many of the local bars playing host to DJ parties and live acts.
Snowboxx Line-Up 2019
The 2019 festival has a feisty line-up of DJs and live acts, including: Craig David, Jax Jones, Rudimental and Wilkinson. You can check out the Snowboxx full line-up here. Concerts take place in the open air arena, and nobody seems to worry that it’s cold, or there is a snowstorm blowing (yes that can happen). The music is just too good to care. Although it’s definitely advised to take a backpack with some warmer clothing with you, as the night air can be pretty harsh. The party gets started every morning with the Bottomless Brunch, where an alpine breakfast is served up with champagne and DJs. This is a hugely popular event, which has already sold out for the day of the 2019 festival. Heading into the afternoon, the legendary apres-ski parties kick off from 4pm with ice cold beers and champagne on the huge terrace. DJs will have you up from your deckchair and dancing the afternoon away in no time. Downtown Avoriaz comes alive with more parties and activities. Cocktails and shots are on offer, and the table dancing starts!
Snowboxx Fancy Dress
If we haven’t already mentioned, fancy dress is an absolute must at Snowboxx. The crazier the better! Although onesies seem to be especially popular! We recommend fleecy and flamboyant if possible. Aside from the detonating music line-up, Snowboxx also promises skiing, snowboarding, comedy, and heaps of fun snow activities. The Altitude Comedy Nights are especially popular. The comedy stage was a huge success last year when Andrew Maxwell and Abandoman hit the stage. Snowboxx hosts some of the best comedy acts from Europe. Check the Snowboxx website for updates on the line-up.
What Else?
What else? Well there are Igloo Parties, a Skim pool, extreme snowball fighting, zorbing down the slopes and karaoke. Come the early hours and you’ll find most of the hard-core partygoers in the XX club. The largest indoor venue in Avoriaz set-up for Snowboxx. And if all that sounds like great fun, but you tend to like to do things in style. There are VIP upgrade packages, which get you into the VIP bar, a concierge service, priority queue to the main stage and lots of drinks vouchers. If you think you can handle, prices start from £269 per person. Tickets get booked up very quickly, so don’t think twice. You must be 18 to attend. How to get there? Avoriaz is situated around 90 minutes to Geneva Airport and the festival provides private airport transfer from the airport. The resort is also accessible via road and rail. Visitors then need to take a connecting bus up to resort.
