The Alps are famous for the lively après-ski scene with live music and outdoor bars, and Avoriaz is no stranger to this.
Getting together after a day on the piste to enjoy an ice cold beer on a sunny terrace and watch the world ski by. With so many to choose from we have put together a list of our favourites.
LA FOLIE DOUCE
On the plateau, close to the Avoriaz Welcome Centre, La Folie Douce occupies the building that for the past 60 years was the Chalet d’Avoriaz. Being on the piste in the resort makes it super accessible for all. The current hot venue is the Follie Douce, which booms out live music from its ice stage from 3pm until 6pm each afternoon and is generally busy, so expect to stand or dance on the tables in your ski boots!
LE YETI
Located on the main Avoriaz plateau, directly opposite the raucous Follie Douce, le Yeti is a long standing après choice for a more sedate experience. Whether you choose the cozy warm tented pavilion or an outside deck chair on a sunny afternoon, le Yeti has a good selection of drinks and makes an excellent vin chaud or hot wine. They also offer crepes, waffles and other snaks and a full menu at lunchtime.
LA CABANE
For more relaxed and family friendly après-ski, la Cabane, in the centre of town in front of the tourist office (in the building that used to be the Bistro) offers après-ski on sunny days on the terrace facing the Dromonts piste. Drinks and snacks are accompanied by singers. Later in the evening, upstairs boasts an excellent bar with a great cocktail and wine list and selection of beers. The same singers provide the music in the evening singing between the dining tables.
LE TAVAILLON
The most pub-like bar in town. Le Tavaillon is located bank in the centre of the resort opposite the tourist office. Equipped with a number of screens, it shows the main sports events, and is often packed to standing during the main Premier League or International sports matches. It has a wide range of draught beers and a happy hours from 4-6pm daily.
JAJA BAR
The Jaja Bar, open from 5pm to 1am doubles up as both a quieter après and late evening bar. With an extensive wine and drinks list, sharing platters can be enjoyed to the sound of jazz..
SHOOTERS
Shooters is a live-music bar located at the bottom of the main High Street. It is open for both après ski at 5pm and late into the night until 2am. In keeping with its namesake, it has a wide range of shots on offer.
